In Settings, Attendance rules, tick Drivers must complete the checklist before the shift starts. Edit or remove items and add your own with Add a check, for example "Fire extinguisher".
At clock in the driver marks each item OK or Problem. A Problem is recorded with the driver's description and the shift is flagged "Pre-start checklist had failed items", so the office sees vehicle problems the same day.
